Hot day in Lory

I am going to combine a few thoughts in this blog from the past few days. First, on Friday I went and rode this beast:

Yeti SB66-C
To say the least it was a game changer for me. I have been really focusing on my downhill skills and had enduro racing on my mind. When a friend told me Yeti was doing a demo right in my backyard I thought it would be a great chance to see what the fuss was all about.
This bike ate up the terrain. I rode a  pretty rocky/techy trail and this thing was amazing. I see a winter project coming on :)

We had a lovely weekend up in FoCo! Saturday was a lovely, chill day. We mostly worked on the bikes and enjoyed the beautiful weather on the porch. We worked on the bikes (hydraulic disc brakes... so needy!) and got them all cleaned up and ready to go! Then Sunday we were trying to ride the 40 in the Fort course, but unfortunately some of the trails were still closed, so we did the best we could!

Cabin on Sawmill trail

Amazing scenery all day
This little gal was very jealous of our turkey wraps

Lauren kickin some butt on the techy stuff!

Stay tuned, we are headed to Crested Butte next weekend!

Road trippin on the day of the father

We spent the weekend on the road and in Durango. I wanted to swap the jetta out for the jeep and see the family for father's day. Ended up being a lot of fun! My buddy Hanzi Pancho ended up dropping by for the weekend as well (hes a long haul trucker).

We had our cousins over for a family meal, tacos mmmm! This turned out to be a hoot, many laughs shared with the good food :)

Then we spent sunday morning loading up the jeep as full as humanly possible while being able to cram us and the dogs in.

The drive ended up being terribly windy and rainy... The bed on top of the jeep acted like a sail which made it very difficult to get through the mountain storms of colorado, no fun! We came across the fires on Wolf Creek Pass on the way home. This area has been affected terribly by pine beetles, leaving more then 50% of the forest dead. This fire blew up fast to say the least... Driving by made me miss wildland fire fighting. I have done a few fires with a local fire contractor. Maybe someday I will get back into the game!

Lets give this a shot...

Its mid June in Colorado, which means the summer activities are in full swing and plans are being made to make epic trips! We are looking at Monarch Crest trail, enduro races, Colorado Trail segments, 14ers to conquer and some new 4x4 overland options.

I just recently made the move up to Denver to transition into the 'real world'... WOAH! However this has involved much trail exploring as I figure out my new area. I was worried about the mountain biking options on the front range after being spoiled with epic Durango trails, but so far I have been pleasantly surprised! I have ventured out of the city limits for a few rides as well, and have been having a lot of fun.

The summer is booking up fast with much fun, and I will do my best to share it!
